Book note – The code breaker by Walter Isaacson

Finally finished this baby after a few months. The main difficulty is the mundane & the lagging memory when you leave it at some point then pick it up then leave it then pick it up again and again.

Contrary to my expectation that the book is centering around Doudna alone, it painted a bigger picture of the life science world with different stakeholders and how scientists collaborate, compete and communicate. The book also touched lost-and-found partnership and friendship in a competitive industry which I found relatable.
I was quite amazed when knowing that a global journal publication triggered a global race & cross-continent partnerships on commercialization and further advancement of a foundational CRISPR research.

Big ideas, dead serious title, but limiting the chapters to 8-10 pages each, makes the book reader-friendly. Try it at your own pace 💅
